Canadian National Caboose #79301

This caboose was built by Hawker Siddely in 1967, and was used all across Canada from the Atlantic to the Pacific. After a long service on Standard rails for the Canadian National Railway, it was retired in 1992. Merville Station purchased it in 1993. It was brought to Vancouver, British Columbia by rail, and shipped over to Vancouver Island by rail-barge. After a short trip on the E&N Railroad tracks up to Royston, near Courtenay,  the Caboose #79301 was partially dismantled and brought to its present location by a low bed tractor trailer, with a dump truck hauling the two carriage beds weighing over 4 tons each!
